In the early stages of setting up my business I started with a good basis to work from, but I lacked the detail needed to bring my thoughts to life. The layout of the space before was a little drab, but I didn't understand how important it was to think about the cutomer expereience and nearly made some costly design decisions. We had a shop, we had the products, we had social media but we didn’t have enough customers. We knew the customers were there but they weren’t coming through our doors, they were going to the competition. HH helped us to understand what worked well for us and encouraged us to build on that. They showed us how to create a shop design which was easy for the customers to see our best selling products from the outside which would start to gain interest. We also worked with HH to adjust the shop floor layout to make it easier for customers to get around the shop and see the variety available straight away. One thing we realised people were keen to get was something we weren't selling and which could make us stand out from the competition and that was advice. Lots of people wanted to know the best products for them and what worked well for what. Because we always focussed on selling, we didn’t really know the answers so HH challenged us to get to know our own products so that we could go on a journey with our customers. We realised that because we didn’t know our customer we lacked confidence which the HH Team said came across as a reluctance to engage.
